Our Story
I started DML Plumbing & Heating Ltd after years working in the trade across Leitrim and the surrounding counties. I got into plumbing young and stuck with it — and somewhere along the way I realised I actually enjoyed the problem-solving side of it. Figuring out why a boiler wasn't firing, or why someone's radiators were stone cold when the boiler was running fine. That puzzle was the part I liked.
Over the years working on other people's jobs, I kept seeing the same thing: customers left waiting days for someone to turn up, heating left broken in the middle of winter, work done in a rush and not done right. I knew there was a better way to treat people.
One job that stuck with me was an older woman whose oil boiler had packed in completely during a freezing cold snap. She'd been told it'd be days before anyone could get to her. I went out and got her heat back on — and the relief on her face said it all. That's when it clicked: people don't just need a plumber. They need someone reliable. Someone who'll actually show up when their heating goes in the depths of winter.
So I set up DML Plumbing & Heating on one simple promise: answer every call, show up on time, and do the job properly. Over 20 years later, that's still exactly how we work. The trade has changed a lot — heat pumps, SEAI grants, smart controls, all the new technology — but what people really want hasn't changed at all. They want someone they can trust who knows what they're doing.
Our Founder
Dermot McLoughlin founded DML Plumbing & Heating Ltd over 20 years ago with one van, a toolbox, and a simple idea: be the plumber people can actually rely on.
What began as just a way to earn a living turned into something he genuinely took pride in — the problem-solving, the hands-on work, and especially helping people when they're stuck with a broken boiler in the dead of winter or a bathroom that's falling apart.
After years working for other outfits, Dermot kept seeing the same problems: plumbers who didn't show up, customers left waiting, jobs done poorly because someone was rushing on to the next one. He realised what people really needed wasn't just technical skill — it was someone dependable.
So he set up his own business with a straightforward promise: answer every call, show up on time, and do the work properly. Over 20 years later, that's still how DML Plumbing & Heating operates.
Dermot is SEAI registered and specialises in oil boiler replacements, boiler servicing, heat pump installations, and bathroom renovations. He's watched the industry change — heat pumps becoming the norm, customers wanting more energy-efficient systems and help with grants — but the heart of the job hasn't changed. It's still about fixing problems, treating people's homes with respect, and being someone they can trust.
